What does the work placement involve?

You will work as part of a small, international student team on a 'consultancy-style' challenge outlined by your host company. You will benefit from an initial training session on how to run a consultancy project and will be able to work remotely through virtual meetings with your team members and the company at various points throughout the placement.

How long is the work placement?

Our standard placements are two weeks long.

When do the placements take place?

We endevour to arrange placements during non-term time and tend to offer most placements during Easter and summer breaks. We cannot guarantee any particular dates at the application stage (as this depends on the number of students we have, the backgrounds of students, and the availability of key staff within host companies).

Do I choose the project/company?

No, we will place you with a company (taking into account your unique skills and experience). This ensures the teams are diverse and you are able to build your knowledge of different sectors along with your transferable skills.

What kind of companies can I undertake my project with?

We work with a range of companies but the majority are startups and SMEs across a wide range of sectors including Fintech, education, music industry, legaltech, the space sector, and boutique consulting firms.

Is the programme for undergraduate or postgraduate students?

The programme is for postgraduate students and final year undergraduate students. See our application pages for guidance for our applicant criteria.

Do I need to have secured a place at a UK university before I apply for the Study Work Programme?

No, if you are looking for a postgraduate course we add you to our talent pool which we cirulate to relevant universities to help find you a suitable course. If you are applying to take part as a final year undergraduate you will need to already be registered with a UK university when you apply. Can you guarantee me a place at a UK university?

We cannot guarantee you will be accepted on a course as universities have their own processes and selection criteria. However, we can help you identify suitable universities and add you to our talent pool (which is cirulated to relevant universities to help find you a suitable course).

Is there a deadline for applying for the Study Work Programme?

The deadline is December 31st 2020. However, we advise you to apply as soon as possible as the programme may close early if over subscribed.

Do you get paid for the placements?

No, the project work is undertaken on a voluntary basis to help students enhance their employability.

Do I need IELTS to apply?

You will need to pass all the relevant requirements to secure a tier 4 visa and be registered at a UK university to take part in the programme. Further details on requirements can be found on the UK Government website

Can I apply as a UK student?

We occasionally accept UK students on our programme but the programme is aimed primarily at international students (as they are unlikely to have had an opportunity to gain work experience with a UK company previously).

Do you provide visa advice?

We work with a trusted OISC-registered agent who can provide visa advice and services. There is a charge for visa advice and services, if you would like to find out more about our visa services contact us.
